    • Obit: Obit - Mary Virginia Eatherton, was born May 10, 1840 inVirginia, and died Wednesday , Dec. 20 1916, of complication ofdisease at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T H Riley at Hun tsville,Mo. she was 76 years. 7 months, and 10 days of age. At the age of 20she was marri ed to Robert Towles. Seven children survive her, namely:Mrs. Mollie Redding, Paris Mo, Mis s Fannie Towles, Mrs. Ida romans,Cairo IL, Mrs J. C. thomas, Mrs T. H. Riley, Tom and Willard Towlesall of Huntsville MO. Mrs. Towles was a devoted christio an, joiningthe Huntsville, Baptist Church when quite young. Funeral was preachedThursday D ecember 21 1916 at 1 o'clock by Rev. J. T. Lingo of thiscity (Moberly MO) at Mt. Olivette, a nd the body laid to rest in theLay burying Ground.

      !BIOGRAPHY: Mary was first married to a man named Henry Bibbs. They had a son named Henry. Family lore is that Mary was a descendant of theWilliam Penn family. However, this has never been confirmed. Family lore also has it that the Northern Army came to the farm looking for men to fight in the Civil War. Mary had just had a baby and was still in bed . She made Robert hide in the bed covers so he could not be taken to war as he was an old man at the time (40s )and had two sons in the war.
