    • Was fair like his fafther, and became known as Robert Boyt or Boidh, Gaelic varients of the world for Fair. And so the name "Boyd" was developed. He appeared as a witness in a contract between Ralph de Eglington and the town of Irvine in 1205, in which he is described as "of Gavin and Risk", properties in northeryn Ayrshire. In the chartulary of Paisley he appears described as nephew of Walter the High Steward. He was the father of the first Sir Robert.
