The departure of the Boulay family towards News-France, could be due to the fact that, during years 1648 and 1662, there was a dreadful food shortage. Some registers of parishes are marked " dead of hunger ".

They embark with the port of the Novelle-France, June 23 1662, the voyage is done under the direction of Pierre Boucher who is done chartered by His Majesty two vessels, the Sa Majesté and the St-Jean-Baptiste. They are 100 workers, 300 people in all, on these two boats, where the soldiers are more numerous.

The crossing is long and very painful, the emigrants suffer from hunger and of thirst, 33 passengers died following this crossing.

As of 1663, Charles de Lauzon-Charny verbally concedes 3 arpents of ground of face in Robert Boulay on the island of Orleans, in Sainte-Famille.

The census of 1666 reports that Robert Boulay and Francoise Garnier, both 36 years, remain in the island with three children. That of 1667 specifies that they have 5 animals and 6 arpents cleared.

June 22 1667, it obtains a concession on the side southern of the island, in St. Jean parish, close to the ancestor Nicolas Audet says Lapointe. Mgr. of Laval gives him its titles of owner on February 22 1669.
