  • Notes
    • Made famous in the childrens nursery rhyme;
      Old King Cole was a merry old soul.
      First King in Northern Britain.

      Coel Hen (the Old), King of Northern Britain, who married Ystradwal ferch Cadfan (became father of Ceneu & Gwawl) & died in 410, is not the same man as Coel Godhebog (the Magnificent).
      This latter man was Duke of Colchester, he married Strada ferch Cadfan (suspiciously similar to Ystradwal, but with different ancestry) and was father of St.Helena Augusta Britannica.
