  • Notes
    • Ada's mother is said to have died young and she was raised by her grandmother, Jane Helms Norton. Somewhere I have gotten the impression that Jane was rather a stern disciplinarian. They were of the Primitive or Old Time Baptist Religion.

Ada wrote in a letter of April 17, 1912 to W.O. Norton, Yantis, Tx.

Mr. W.O. Norton Dear Uncle Yours of the 9th at hand was glad to hear from you and that you was well. We are all well as comon except the baby. She is not well. I got a letter from Papa and Crawford Saturday. Crawford said his folks was all well. Papa did not say in his letter how they was (over) 2 Crawford and his family came last summer and spent a week with us. I think he has got a nice little woman. She is smart and saving . He married Jim Jacobs 3rd girl. Well, Crawford lives in Atlanta, Ga. 19 Wellborn St. 3 (1) Amos' Father (2) Crawford He would be more than glad if you would write to him. Well, I will write some of the deaths in Georgia. Make a list of a few you knew. (1) Will Magouirk is dead, Uncle Manin Gore, Elecks Irvine killed by lightening, (2) Grandma Higgins died about a month ago. Uncle Asa died about 3 weeks ago, Uncle Martin is dead. Mrs. McEwen, Mr. Jim Carrol, Will Winters, John Noughtman, Hubbert John and Eva Williams , Uncle Jack's first wife Ros is dead, there are a lots more Mr. and Mrs. and Sallie Long is dead, Susan Hutchins. Well, I can't think of anything to write. We had a terrible rain here yesterday ----raining some this morning. You said you was about half done planting corn. Zolpha hasn't planted anything except a roasting ear patch and ribbon cane and garden. My garden was fine and the cows ruoined it. They are going to work at the fence. 9 Heare is a little piece of paper Zolpha set it down and I will just send it to you can keep it till I see if I am rite. Well I will close for this time hoping you wont think hard of me for writing so much. I have set in here and let people tear the phone down ringing but I can't write and fool with ti and Annie is--------on this old organ and Dora is squalling. I haven't got sense to put my pencil down say write soon and fail not. Your neice as ever, Ada Mozley.
