Notes |
- some researchers [and Ancestry Member Trees] have claimed that Richard Alsop (called "Thomas Richard" by some) was a son of Joseph Alsop and his wife Elizabeth Preston, which appears to be unfounded.
Neither Jacobus, in Families of Ancient New Haven, nor Anderson, in the Great Migration include a son named Richard or Thomas Richard.
In addition, if this Richard Alsop was indeed born in England, then it would easily rule him out as a son of Joseph Alsop, whose family was in New Haven, Connecticut well before 1660. Additional research is necessary.
