  • Notes
    • The Zaltbommel records show him to have gone to live with a widow Sanders in Leyden (Leiden) on November 30, 1877, when he was 15 years old.

From an Internet advertisement (Pamela's Music - "Musical Instruments for sale") - September 2003
It offered a flute that had the logo Naessens & Co stamped on it, which would have made it a fairly rare instrument because the Naessens factory (and piano dealership) was not generally known to be dealing in such instruments. It certainly seems unlikely that this flute would have been made in one of the Naessens piano factories:

      "Fw046 Wooden flute
An ebony wooden flute. I think circa 1900. 8 key, metal inserts to the holes, tuning slide. Stamped Naessens & co, Batvia Sobrabaya. In good condition. No cracks. All keys good. Old pads so lower notes difficult. £225"

The telephone directory of Baarn, Soest and Soestdijk in 1915 has him listed with the number 319, and living at "Hillgrove" (the name of his villa) in Soest.

From the memoirs of J.G. Kerlen: (in 1894)
