      Gainford, Lord. Second son of Sir Joseph W. Pease, Bart. Is Chairman and Director of Pease & Partners Ltd., who control Henry Stobart & Co., North Bitchburn Coal Co., and T. & R. Bower Ltd. ; also a Director of the Broomhill Collieries Ltd. During the war served in France and Italy. Was previously Patronage Secretary, Chancelior of the Duchy of Lancaster, Minister of Education; Postmaster-General, 1915-18. One of the leading members of the coal industry in the North of England, and gave important evidence on the Sankey Commission. Is also Vice-Chairman of the Durham Coal Owners' Association, and member of the National Board, and of the Mining Association of Great Britain. Chairman of the National Association of Coke & By-Products Owners; Vice-Chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation, etc. Received his peerage in 1917. Address: Headlam Hall, Gainford, Co. Durham; and 18, Mansfield Street, W.1.
