  • Notes
    • She migrated Aug--Oct 1682 aboard the "WELCOME" , same ship as Bartholomew Sr & Jr, Jonathan, and other Coppocks, arriving Philadelphia, and settled in Delaware or Delaware County, Pa. Her mother & uncle Isaac both died at sea of the smallpox, so she and her siblings came under the care of her mother's brother, George Ingram; Shortly after their arrival in America Miriam and A George Thompson were married by a Lawerence Lockenius, a Lutheran Minister. she was apparently too young to marry, for she & George, as well as the minister that married them, were taken to court for violating the laws of the province. Thompson appeared in court but as nobody appeared against him, charges were dropped Freb 14, 1682-3; He abandonned Miriam, and she applied for public assistance for herself & child, 6 Nov 1684; George seems to have remarried and is listed in church records in 1698.
She subsequently married a William White, of New Castle County, a Wheelwright -- and bore him three more children. William's will was probated on 14 September 1703.He died 1704, The above taken from The History Of Delaware County, (Pennsylvania )pgs 474-476 and 494-495.
Her third marraige to Aaron Coppock, was announced by engagement 11 july and 13 sept 1704 in Concord MM; their actual marraige in Upper Chichester Meeting of Friends, Delaware Co, Pa is recorded for the same date, in 2 other places: 30 Sept 1704, ; the Nottingham Monthyly Meeting, and the New Garden Monthly Metting, all in Pa. She was a witness at their son John's wedding to Margaret Coulson in 1731, where the parents' address is listed as E Nottingham Monthly Meeting in Pa. She also witnessed marraiges of Hohn Harris & Phebe Beeson, in 1731, and her grandson, William White to SarahPugh in 1743 in East and West Nottingham monthly meetings, Pa and Md, respectively.
