(Lloyd, History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog, vol. 3 p. 250) Bartrum's 'Welsh Genealogies 300-1400' volume 2 page 70 states he is either the son of 1) Efa ferch Owain, or 2) Angharad ferch Gruffudd. J-Morris' 'Shropshire Genealogies' volume 6 page 2809 makes him the son of Angharad ferch Gruffudd. Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 1 page 110 and volume 4 page 199 give him a son named Ednyfed and a daughter named Efa who was married to Madog ap Samuel ap Cadafael. Lloyd's 'History of the Princes, the Lords Marcher and the Ancient Nobility of Powys Fadog' volume 1 page 110 and volume 4 page 199 insert two extra generations between Maredudd "Fychan" and Maredudd called Maredudd ap Rhys and Rhys ap Maredudd.
