**NOTE from C V Hyde: I thought that S C was born in Shelby Co, where Isaac was born; but the records show he was born in Sabine Co. Idon't know how he got born there. I don't know what the Hyde familywas doing hanging around the Louisiana border country in the early80's after the Robertsons were already in Bosque County.

"Ches" Hyde always wanted to be a farmer, but he was not verygood at it. From time to time he had to take other jobs--specificallyin the railroad shops for the Santa Fe--to support his family, but hekept his farm and always went back. See the specific timeline in theNotes for his son Chester Voy Hyde. (Source: Chester V. Hyde)

Samuel Chester Hyde only attended school for a couple of years, and he could not read at all. (In later years he did grocery shoppingby looking at the pictures of the cans.) Chester V. Hyde notes thatmule kicked "Uncle Bud" (S. C.'s brother Isaac) and broke his kneecap. S. C. quit school to work on the farm. However, C. V. says thatUncle Jeff finished school "but didn"t learn much." "Some of theschools in Texas were pretty poor." S. C.'s wife "Lottie" didn't goto school much longer that he did, but she could read fairly well."Maybe Arkansas schools were better."
