  • Notes
    • Interesting information on Bishop Jacob Mast can be found under his father's file by the name of Unknown Mast. He provided public service to the Revolution in Pennsylvania. (C-458, p. 1918) He and 3 of his unnamed sisters are supposedly buried near each other. He was the 2nd Amish Bishop in America. In 1786, he was serving Berks, Chester and Lancaster Counties, PA. (C-873, 2251e)

An LDS ancestral chart lists the same date of death but in Caernarvon Township, Berks Co., Pennsylvania. It lists his burial site the same -- Pine Grove Cemetery -- but again in Caernarvon Township, Berks Co., Pennsylvania instead of in Ohio. Both places obviously need checked. The Pennsylvania place name would seem more consistant to me.

According to a grandson's write up in Beers book on Champaigne County, Ohio for a Jacob Mast, Jacob came to the colonies when he was about 10 and lived and died in Pennsylvania, as well as his parents, Jacob and Barbara Mast. (E) A different 2nd hand account stated that he was about age 12 when they came over in 1850.
Immigration - 03.11.1750 - Rotterdam, ZH, NL - They left from Rotterdam. The ship's last stop in Europe was
Cowes before traversing the ocean to the United States.
