• Notes

  Petrus Emiliana was known as "Emile" and went to the Dutch East Indies where he later became a "commies" at the "Rekenkamer" (Auditor-General's Office). He is also shown as "Emile Petrus" rather than "Petrus Emiliana", it is possible he changed this himself in later life, but he was definitely born with the name "Petrus Emiliana" and was still shown as such in the Zaltbommel records in 1880. From the meoirs of J.G. Kerlen: "Emile, die als employee werkte in de (piano) zaak van zijn oudere broer Willem; de beide broers konden niet best met elkander overweg en als gevolg daarvan had ik weten te bewerken, dat Emile in een ondergeschikte betrekking bij de Algemene Rekenkamer werd geplaatst. Jammer dat hij zich met zijn klein inkomen reeds dadelijk verloofde met een echte nonna, juffrouw Hendrix genaamd, al spoedig trouwde en met zijn vrouw in een kamponghuisje terecht kwam. Pour comble de misere werd de vrouw krankzinnig."
