    • Koning van Nederland; keert 1813 op verzoek van een bevrijdingsbeweging onder leiding van Gijsbert Karel van Hogen naar Nederland terug en wordt 2.12.1813 als souvereine vorst gehuldigd. Oprichter van de Nederlandse bank in 1814 en de Nederlandse Handelsmaatschappij in 1824. Laat het Noordhollands Kanaal en de Willemsvaart aanleggen. 1839 wordt de spoorlijn Amsterdam-Haarlem geopend. Moet 1830 de afscheiding van Belgie aanvaarden. Doet 1840 afstand van de troon ivm zijn voorgenomen huwlijk met Henriette d'Oultremont, een halve Belgische.
