Mitchell Hill Road (Hadlyme-Lyme) is named for the family as is Mitchell Road, which intersects at one end with Tater Road and the other with Salem Road in East haddam, CT. There is a lovely stone house with Mitchell Pond on the property that is documented back to 1790 as the Mitchell home.

A cousin of charles married Hiram Bingham, US Senator.

Through Charles we are connected to the Piersons of Old Lyme and used to hold Mitchell-Pierson reunions -at- 1970.

Another record? shows 1/13/1926 as death date.

1900 Census shows December 1849/50 years old as birth date.
I have found this census to differ widely from all previous censuses as well as the 1920 census.

During 1920 Census family lived on Back River Road in Old Lyme, CT.

Primary cause of death: Cerebral Hemorrhage - duration 23 days; Secondary: Bronchial Pneumonia - duration 2 days.

East Haddam is located in Middlesex County, Connecticut. The town was organized in 1734 from the Town of Haddam, located on the Connecticut River. All though East Haddam was a small farming town, because of the location of the river near by it was easy for prominent families to start industries and become a big part in East Haddam Genealogy.
East Haddam isn't just a quiet small country town, it has it's mysterious side as well, from "Moodus Noises" to Devil's Hopyard. The question still remains today, are they legends or are did it actually happen? Read on and you decided! So, what are you waiting for, grab some coffee, sit back and relax as we take a trip back in East Haddam to find our ancestors!
