  • Notes
    • According to Odessa Collins, Hannah married John C. Allen. Marilyn gives her spouses name as John Merigu with a marriage in 1795 in Guilford, NC instead. I have trouble believing this second date, as other siblings of Hannah's appear to be born in the 1790's, instead of marrying in them. If the 1800 census record that appears to fit her father, James of Edgefield, she would not have been born until the 1790's also. In either case, Hannah listed as "my single daughter", was paid about $950.00 from her father's estate in 1821 and she was listed as Hannah Coate, not under any married name. When she died in 1883, she was surrounded by her eight living children and many friends, loved and praised by many. (C-1914)
