  • Notes
    • 1. Martha's cousin, a Mr. Patterson, Baltimore, Maryland merchant, had a beautiful daughter, Elizabeth (Betty), marry , December 27,1803 Jérôme Bonaparte, 1784-1860, King of Westphalia (1807-13), youngest brother of Napolean I of France, when Jérôme was in America. Napoleon objected and sent Jérôme and Betty to Mesphelice where Naploean was King. Jérôme commanded a division at Waterloo and later received honors at the court of his nephew, Napoleon III. Napoleon later had the marriage annulled and married Jérôme to a German princess.

Jérôme and Betty may have had one son, Jerome, who came to America and attended Harvard University. Jerome married Susan MacWilliams. They had 2 sons. Son Charles Joseph Bonaparte was a lawyer living in Baltimore. Jérôme died in 1894.
