    • Sir Henry Vane, Eng. stateman and author was educated at Westminster and at magdalen Hall, Oxford, we was attached to the embassies of Vienna Leiden and Geneva. He had strong Puritan views of religion and to obtain freedom for them, he emigrated to Mass, where he was elected govenor in 1636. After one yr in office he was defeated by Winthrop. He returned to Eng in Aug 1637 and he was made joint treasurer of the navy with Sir W Russel in Jan 1639.
The entire story of his life is written in the encylocpedia Brittanica
Because of his politcal and religous stands, during the Reformation he was imprisoned in the Tower of London and executed on June 14,1662.
