      Lived with his parents Thomas (the miniaturist) and Elizabeth Mary in Euston St. long enough to become an established artist. When his second child was born in 1839 his occup- ation was "painter and glazier" (meaning picture framer). In the 1841 census he was listed as a painter at 22 Gresse St., Tottenham Court Rd., St. Pancras, with his wife and their first two children, Martha and Thomas Charles, all 'four having been born in Middlesex. In the 1851 P.O. Direct­ory he appears as a picture dealer at 105 Wardour St., Soho; in the 1852 Commercial and General Directory he is a restorer of paintings with a private address of
      26 Poland St., Oxford St.
