  - Obstetrician [chirug-gynaecoloog] alt sp Emiele Alexander Johan Marie Hanlo "Emiele AJM Hanlo was a son of the miliary judge-advocate Emile Felix Marie H[anlo] and his wife [Joh]Anna Povel. After having attended the HBS and the St Canisius College at Nijmegen, he enrolled in Medicine at Utrecht on 25 February 1918; he qualified in 1924. After some voyages as aship's doctor to the East and the West Indies, and having looked after the practice of physicians at various places, he was educated in surgery by Dr Kuijer* in the Hague hospital 'Johannes de Deo'. He then was an assistant-gynaecologist to Dr Ed. Hustinx* at Heerlen from 1926 to 1929. He was promoted to MD by Van Rooy* in Amsterdam on 7 July 1930 after defending his thesis, entitled - Uterosalpingografie In 1932 H[anlo] set up as a surgeon and gynaecogist at Maastrict, and two years later [1934] he was appointed head of the women's surgical and obstetrical-gynaecological department of the hospital 'Calvarienberg'. He was chairman of the sick-fund 'Zuid-Limburg', and was on the board of the 'Landelijke Specialisten Vereniging' for a short time. H[anlo] was married to Alice Marie Paula Leontine Hustinx. H[anlo] wrote several publications [not for the NTG].
