Crossed the plains in a covered wagon in 1861, as an infant with her father, mother and brother, Henry, to California. Her sister, Ada died in her arms as an infant. Listed in 1860 census in Missouri as 1/12 years old. Emigrated to CA by covered wagon in 1861 with parents and brother Henry. She was listed as in school in the 1870 census in Grass Valley, CA, where her father was a miner, at the time. Cared for her brother Floyd when he broke his leg in Grass Valley about
1920. Probably saved his life. Cared for her retarded daughter Wilmuth from 1896-1935, when she was aged 75 and Wilmuth was 39. Lived with her daughter Ruth and family from 1943 until 1958. She became hard of hearing just after her husband died in 1945. She was very religious, reading the bible and hymnals every day.
